The Recent Data Breach at Evolve Bank and Trust: Implications for Wise Customers

The money transfer and fintech company Wise announced on Friday that some of its customers’ personal data may have been stolen in the recent data breach at Evolve Bank and Trust.

The fallout from the Evolve data breach on third-party companies — and their customers and users — is still unclear. The impact is likely to extend to companies and startups that are yet unknown.

Wise wrote that it collaborated with Evolve from 2020 to 2023 to provide USD account details. As Evolve was recently breached, Wise customers’ personal information may have been compromised.

Names, addresses, date of birth, contact details, Social Security numbers, and more were shared with Evolve by Wise. The extent of affected customers is still under investigation.

A Wise spokesperson confirmed that customer accounts were not compromised, and safety measures are in place. Customers impacted by the breach will be contacted directly.
