Exciting Collaboration Coming to Call of Duty in Season 5

Highlights

  • Call of Duty Season 5 collaboration confirmed as WWE, not Deadpool, despite community speculation.
  • Teaser trailer hints at three new operator skins, likely being wrestlers from WWE.
  • Season 4 saw successful collaboration with ‘Gundam’ franchise, offering new operator outfits and cosmetics.

Activision has announced that a new collaboration with WWE will be coming to Call of Duty in Season 5, which also received a confirmed start date of Wednesday, July 24.

Earlier this month, Call of Duty data miners unearthed what many at the time believed to be a potential Deadpool collaboration. The in-game files discovered included a plethora of new finishing moves that were extremely Deadpool-esque, but there was no actual mention that these new animations were linked to Deadpool in any way.

After data miners announced that this would be a Deadpool collaboration in Season 5, the community just ran with it. Now, however, Call of Duty has announced that the Season 5 collaboration will be with WWE. Popular news account CharlieIntel also took to X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the announcement to say, “There were rumors from data miners claiming that there would be a Deadpool collab for Call of Duty, but that is not true.”

In a short teaser trailer yesterday afternoon, Call of Duty confirmed a new collaboration with WWE, whilst also announcing that Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3, Warzone, and Warzone Mobile would begin on Wednesday, July 24.

There’s no word on exactly what will be included in the collaboration, but the short teaser does appear to tease three new operator skins. Toward the end of the trailer three shadows can be seen, likely teasing the introduction of three wrestlers from the world of WWE. There’s a chance that players will simply be able to purchase these operators from the in-game store, but Activision may also make the skins exclusive to the Season 5 Battle Pass.
