The non-official release notes of the upcoming Nvidia Game Ready driver hint at a Final Fantasy 16 PC port. With Gamescom closing in and the base game passing its one-year anniversary, a release date announcement might be imminent.
It’s not the first time Nvidia’s upcoming drivers hinted at major PC releases before official announcements. Since the tech giant aims to ensure optimal performance with its graphics cards, it prepares tailored profiles for AAA games and popular titles.
These updates also tend to arrive prior to the launch of games, giving the gaming community room to speculate on possible release windows.
Those using an Nvidia graphics card can check it out themselves by installing the new update and opening the Custom 3D Settings in the Nvidia Control Panel.
Seeing Final Fantasy 16 in the release notes is not unusual as the developer team was wrapping up the final stages of optimization back in March.
The latest DLC for the game, The Rising Tide, made its debut in April and received generally favorable reviews from critics and players on Metacritic.
With two DLCs already out and the base game approaching its one-year anniversary, an August release date for the PC port of Final Fantasy 16 seems like a good bet.
The game’s producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that the two DLCs and the PC version of Final Fantasy 16 were in development back in September 2023.
As with many other console-exclusive games launching on PC, the beloved installment of the Final Fantasy franchise should also arrive with enhanced graphics.
But what’s really exciting about the imminent PC port isn’t the visual upgrades or other PC-specific features.
According to previously revealed details, the long-awaited PC version of Final Fantasy 16 will come with full mod support. Knowing that the modding community can do wonders with almost any game, the fans waiting to jump into Valisthea are in for a treat.
