Deadpool & Wolverine Movie Hits $1 Billion at Global Box Office

It was bound to happen, and now it’s official: Deadpool & Wolverine has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. The Marvel film, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has raked in an impressive $1.029 billion worldwide after another successful weekend in theaters. North America contributed $494.3 million to this total, with international markets adding $535.1 million, as reported by Variety.
This achievement makes Deadpool & Wolverine the second film of 2024 to surpass $1 billion, following Pixar’s Inside Out 2, which falls under the Disney banner just like Deadpool & Wolverine. The movie is on track to surpass 2019’s Joker ($1.07 billion) to claim the title of the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Variety also revealed that Deadpool & Wolverine is now the 11th MCU movie and the 31st Disney film overall to join the prestigious $1 billion club.
On a different note, recent insights suggested that Deadpool & Wolverine was initially planned to feature appearances from Robert Downey Jr. and other Avengers members, but those ideas were eventually scrapped.
Meanwhile, the Borderlands movie, which opened over the weekend, is struggling at the box office and is shaping up to be one of the biggest box office disappointments of 2024.
