Introducing Next-Gen Humanoid Robot with Advanced AI and Full Autonomy

Silicon Valley’s Figure has unveiled its latest creation – the Figure 02 conversational humanoid robot. This cutting-edge robot integrates with NVIDIA Omniverse and NVIDIA GPUs to execute fully autonomous tasks with precision and efficiency.

Recently, Figure conducted tests on the Figure 02 at BMW Group’s manufacturing plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, for data gathering and use-case training.

Developed just within 10 months after the launch of its predecessor, Figure’s general-purpose humanoid robot, Figure 02 represents the company’s commitment to advancements in technology. By utilizing NVIDIA Isaac Sim and NVIDIA GPUs, Figure accelerates the design, training, and testing processes of AI-based robots using synthetic data.

CEO of Figure, Brett Adcock, expressed optimism about the future of humanoid robots, stating, “Our rapid progress in speech, vision, dexterity, and computational power brings us closer to deploying humanoid robots to fulfill labor demands across various industries.”

Figure aims to introduce industrial humanoid robots to tackle labor shortages and eventually plans to launch consumer versions as well.

Established in 2022, the startup has partnered with OpenAI and utilized NVIDIA H100 GPUs to develop tailored AI models that power the robots’ conversational AI capabilities. Recently, Figure secured $675 million in funding from technology giants, including NVIDIA.

NVIDIA’s Vice President of Robotics and Edge Computing, Deepu Talla, highlighted the importance of NVIDIA’s comprehensive robotics stack in developing autonomous humanoid robots effectively.

Robotic Hands Capable of Handling Real-World Tasks

Equipped with human-scale hands, six RGB cameras, and perception AI models trained with synthetic data, Figure 02 demonstrates exceptional precision in carrying out high-accuracy pick-and-place tasks essential for smart manufacturing applications.

Furthermore, Figure is one of the pioneering members of the NVIDIA Humanoid Robot Developer Program, granting early access to cutting-edge tools and computing technologies for humanoid robot development, including NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, NIM microservices, OSMO, Jetson Thor, and Project GR00T general-purpose humanoid foundation models.
