  • Velan Studios plans to revisit Knockout City, but not until the right time.
  • The studio is currently working on new games, Midnight Murder Club and Bounce Arcade, while still considering Knockout City’s return.
  • Velan Studios released a ‘Private Server Edition’ of Knockout City on PC, allowing players to continue playing with friends.

Knockout City developer Velan Studios has expressed its intention to revisit the now-closed live service title, but only when the timing is optimal.

In February 2023, Velan Studios confirmed the closure of Knockout City on June 6, 2023, more than 2 years after the game’s launch. In a detailed blog post on the Knockout City site, game director Jeremy Russo highlighted the challenges of maintaining a unique live service game.

Russo mentioned that despite attracting 12 million players, Knockout City required significant changes to attract and retain more players sustainably. While Velan Studios can’t guarantee Knockout City’s return, fans can expect innovative new games from the studio.

Velan Studios has announced two new titles: Midnight Murder Club, a hide-and-seek multiplayer game, and Bounce Arcade, a VR game blending pinball classics with new mechanics, both slated for release this year.

Knockout City Devs Still Want To Bring The Game Back

Despite upcoming game releases, Velan Studios remains focused on Knockout City. In a recent blog post on the studio’s website, the team acknowledged fans’ anticipation for the game’s return.

“As an indie studio, we love our ability to lean into ideas that excite us, and rest assured we love KO City as much as you do and want to bring it back, *just not yet*,” Velan Studios stated.

Velan Studios explained the four-year development process for Knockout City and emphasized the importance of taking time to create the next chapter of the game. They expressed their love for the game’s world and hinted at a potential return when the timing aligns.

Over a year since its closure, Knockout City received a ‘Private Server Edition’ release on PC earlier this year, allowing players to continue their gaming experience with friends.
