Capcom has recently unveiled some exciting new gameplay features set to debut in Monster Hunter Wilds through a series of informative videos. Building upon the success of its predecessor, Monster Hunter Rise, the gaming giant aims to make this latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise more accessible to newcomers. A key addition is the Focus Mode, allowing players to deliver decisive killing blows with precision.
Focus Mode enhances combat by enabling players to target specific areas during attacks or defensive maneuvers based on the camera’s orientation. By utilizing this mode, players can pinpoint monster wounds, inflicted by repetitive attacks on the same spot, to deal heightened damage to vulnerable areas. Furthermore, users can identify and exploit exposed weak points for devastating Focus Strikes.
Another video showcased additional gameplay components, such as the versatile wrist-mounted “Slinger” crossbow. By collecting materials within the game environment, players can use the crossbow to disorient monsters and retrieve nearby items. Viewers also caught a glimpse of the Secreit mount and received tips on mastering the great sword combat style.
Set for a 2025 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Monster Hunter Wilds is poised to leverage the enhanced capabilities of current-gen consoles to deliver a wealth of thrilling new challenges to players. Game director Yuya Tokuda shared insights with GameSpot, revealing plans for large creature herds and apex monsters to introduce dynamic gameplay moments. Furthermore, Tokuda highlighted improvements in multiplayer matchmaking to create a more seamless co-op experience in Monster Hunter Wilds.
